Atambua youths develop social awareness

INDONESIA: A group of Catholic high school students in Atambua diocese, eastern Indonesia, are focusing their attention in reaching out to the less privileged instead of merely discussing about them.
The group, called Pelita (Light), was established in September 2010 with over 130 members in Atambua city. They began an outreach program by visiting an orphanage run by Bhakti Luhur Foundation where they distributed donations for less privileged children.
“As members of this group, we realized that our characters will be shaped by what we do. We have to develop solidarity and social awareness,” said group coordinator Elisabet Putri Fahik.
