Social Visit of UMC Students

Thursday, April 29, 2010, all students of Character Building Program V (students of 2007) left their beloved campus for a real action to develop friendly and good characters through social visit to the Bhakti Luhur Orphanage. Social visitation was carried out in two different places in Tidar and  Dieng.  The participants felt the spirit of sharing in this social activity. The activity started with the welcoming speech from Bhakti Luhur followed by dancing and singing songs. Mental and physical limitations of the residents of Bhakti Luhur Orphanage did  not necessarily dampen the happy atmosphere driven by the sisters and nuns who dedicated their life to Bhakti Luhur Foundation. Ma Chung students then went on with the observation, where they and their mentors had the opportunity to get  information regarding the condition of the residents of  Bhakti Luhur Orphanage. The activity also continued with a variety of performances of CB V students,  such as magic, dance, and sing along. The song “Jangan Menyerah” ( Don’t give up!)  popularized by D’Massive became the favorite choice of participants on that occasion.

“Now we have learned to care more and appreciate others with special needs,” says one of Ma Chung students when asked about the experience that he had. The mission carried in this  social visit was not only sharing materials or joy, but also learning to be grateful for the current conditions that God has given to us and the awareness of other people, especially those who have both mental and physical defects.

The event lasting 90 minutes exceeded the time limit because of the enthusiasm of the members of Bhakti Luhur and students of Ma Chung University. The event ended with a gift giving and photo sessions.  Say cheese!
